Kindness in 2023
As we wrap up 2023, I couldn’t help but wonder - was I kind enough this year?
The answer is.. umm.. depends.
I was more aware of the way I interacted with my loved ones. I held the door of opportunities open for others. I did a lot of research on what kindness is. I learnt about self-compassion. I went to therapy.
I even did the 30 Day Kindness Challenge along with the participants because I wanted more opportunities to be kinder. So yes, I guess I was kind enough.
A lot of year-end posts on social media may prompt us to compare ourselves with others, and so, it becomes important to credit ourselves for our own feats and to look back at the kind deeds we have done!
As the year is coming to an end, I would like to drop a few gentle reminders for the rest of the journey.
Kindness is not dead - There is goodwill as long as there are people!
Kindness matters – Each kind deed is a message that uplifts someone.
Kindness will have the last word – Although it doesn’t always seem like it, it is the one solution to saving the world and each other.
Kindness is for others, and for you too – Remember your boundaries, wellbeing and wishes, and don’t be afraid of others helping you when you need it!
Regardless of the day and time, kindness should always be on our to-do lists. It is the right way to respond to situations.
I hope we at Kind Hearts Brigade were able to bring in more moments of kindness, and bring to light more opportunities to be kind, in 2023.
Update: The 30 Day Kindness Challenge
In 2023, we had 2 cohorts of the 30 Day Kindness Challenge. This means that 30 people signed up to try to use 30 days of their year to be kind.
For many, this was an unexpected way to be kind. Unexpected because of how subtle and easy it was. Don’t listen to me, read what one of our participants had to say about it.
While we haven’t decided on the dates for January 2024, you can sign up here to get notified for our next cohort! https://www.kindheartsbrigade.com/kindness-challenge
